Sangeeta Gupta is a former Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, an 1984 batch IRS officer and a prominent Indian abstract artist, poet, and filmmaker.
Sangeeta Gupta's artistic journey spans 36 solo exhibitions of paintings. Her 36th solo exhibition Aadiyogi Shiv, a journey in cosmic indigo has travelled to 16 destinations in India and abroad. She has to her credit 35 published books.
Besides several National and international awards, she was also awarded a Doctor of Literature degree by the 42nd World Congress of Poets(2023) recognizing her outstanding contributions to the world of literature. Six of her documentary films are now part of the collection of the US Library of Congress, Washington ."Song of the Cosmos" serves as her creative biography.
Sangeeta has created the world’s longest Indigo Painting on hand woven khadi titled Aadiyogi shiv : a journey in cosmic indigo.To promote sustainable living and natural indigo, she created this painting.Handmade fabric, natural colour and dye are chemical free and environment friendly. In March 2020, she created the world's longest textile painting with natural indigo colour extracted from the plant and finds a mention in Limca Book of records.
